B Gangadharamurthy, a postgraduate from the University of Mysore, taught English for three decades and superannuated in 2003. An activist and a writer, he has authored, translated and edited more than ten books in Kannada and has an honorary award from the Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati for his work in the area of translation. He has edited, with an introduction, the first English translation (1903) of Indirabai, the first social novel (1889) in Kannada. He is a part of the Editorial Committee of the Sufi Culture: A Reader- Series, a KBBP Project. He is also the Chief Editor of Teacher, a Kannada Monthly published by Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti. He is presently associated with the Vidurashwatha Freedom Memorial Museum as a conceptuer. He lives in Gauribidanur, Karnataka.
