Maithreyi Karnoor is the author of the novel Sylvia: Distant Avuncular Ends (Pub Tranquebar, Westland; 2021). She is a Kannada-English translator and poet. She has won the Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati prize for translation for A Handful of Sesame, her English translation of Shrinivas Vaidya’s Sahitya Akademi award-winning Kannada novel Halla Bantu Halla. She was shortlisted for the Lucien Stryk Asian Translation Prize, and twice for the Montreal International Poetry Prize. She has translated from the Kannada H S Shivaprakash’ Four Plays published by Sahitya Akademi. She has been on the panel of judges for the Lucien Stryk Asian Translation Prize in a subsequent year. Her essays, reviews and translations are published widely in India.
